Publishing and Markup
This category includes all of the tools and software associated with publishing and producing text-content on/for the Web. These tools are further subcategorized based on their function: web platforms and publishing, tools that provide user-friendly, content-specific interfaces for digital publication; XML-TEI, software programs that assist scholars in creating valid, well-formed XML-TEI documentation; and XML conversion and publishing, tools that help to bridge the gap between written documentation and web-ready documentation. Many of these tools were used by or power the Content Area Resources also documented in this directory. The individual resource annotations briefly describe the purpose and function of the tool as well as provide a discoverable URL.

Combining "the best functionality of Unix, Windows, and Mac OS X text editors", jEdit launches a high functioning software suitable for advanced text editing. jEdit is comprised of a core software with a wide variety of plugins that expand the capability and specificity of the basic editor. jEdit provides a rich and user-intuitive interface with auto-indent and syntax highlighting for over languages.
